WHAT IS HAIR WHITENING

Hair whitening is common in old age but ripening of hair in young age like early 30's or sometimes early 20's is not common, it's a considerable issue. There are small sacs that line skin cells called follicles in our body, these follicles contains pigment cells called melanin (basically there are two types of melanin: eumelanin and pheomelanin, if more eumelanin is present then the hair color becomes darker and if it is less then the hair color becomes lighter.) which results in natural hair color. But gradually with time these hair follicles loose pigment resulting in white hair.

Some common causes of premature white hairs are:
  •   Genetics and heredity problems: If your parents or grandparents had or have the problem of hair whitening at early stage, then you are more likely to have the same. In most cases you cannot change the genetics.
  •  Stress: People with sleeping problems, anxiety, fluctuation and blood pressure etc. are more likely to be under stress. Stress can also affect your hair even early studies have proven the same.
  •  Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions can also result in loss of hair pigment like alopecia and vitiligo attacks the immune system and cause loss of pigment. Even side effects of some medicines can also results in the same.
  •  Smoking, drinking and consumption of junk foods: Toxins present in cigarettes, in alcohol and in junk food may damage your body parts including hair follicles, causing hair whitening.
